Waterproof Gun Case

Sealock manufactures the SL-E302, a roll-top waterproof gun case. Unlike zippered gun bags that invite leakage through long zipper tracks, the SL-E302 uses a dry-bag-style roll-top closure—rolled down and buckled tight, it forms a mechanical water seal that keeps rain, river spray, and marsh moisture out. The TPU-laminated exterior sheds mud and wipes clean in seconds. Inside, protective padding (10–25mm customizable) cushions the firearm during ATV or boat transport.

While ordinary gun bags rely on stitched seams and zippers that fail over time, the SL-E302 uses a roll-top closure borrowed from professional dry-bag design. Roll it down, fold it over, buckle it tight — the opening compresses into a water-resistant seal that doesn't depend on zipper teeth or adhesive tape. Rain runs off. Mud wipes away. And your rifle or shotgun stays dry inside. Available with custom sizing, padding, and branding for OEM partners.

Professional for Hunting, Shooting, and Outdoor Transportation

Outdoor conditions don't compromise, but most gun cases fail where it matters most, at the seams. While the market offers plenty of stitched bags, we chose a different path. Roll-top sealing, borrowed from professional marine dry bags, replaces vulnerable zipper tracks with a mechanical closure that tightens as you roll. Rain, marsh spray, and mud stay outside. Your rifle, shotgun, or airgun stays inside — secure, dry, and ready. SL-E302 sheds bulk, wipes clean, and travels wherever the hunt takes you — by ATV, pickup, or on your shoulder.

Waterproof Gun Case

Product Details

The SL-E302 is a soft waterproof gun case designed for carrying and protecting long firearms in demanding outdoor conditions. It is suitable for hunting expeditions, marshland waterfowl hunting, mountain trekking, off-road transportation, and long-term firearm storage.

The roll-top closure eliminates traditional zipper leakage points and allows the user to adjust the internal volume according to the firearm length and accessories being carried. When properly rolled and buckled, the opening forms a highly water-resistant seal that helps keep the interior dry even during heavy rain or accidental water exposure.

Typical Applications

The SL-E302 is designed for professionals who frequently carry firearms in unpredictable environments.

Waterfowl Hunting

Wetlands and marshes expose firearms to constant moisture. The waterproof construction helps reduce water penetration while keeping the firearm protected during transport.

Backcountry Hunting

Long-distance hiking often means encountering rain, streams, and muddy terrain. The lightweight roll-top design minimizes unnecessary weight while protecting valuable equipment.

Boat Transportation

When firearms are transported by fishing boat, duck boat, or canoe, accidental splashes are unavoidable. The waterproof closure system provides an extra level of protection compared with conventional stitched gun bags.

Off-Road Travel

Suitable for pickup trucks, ATVs, UTVs, and other outdoor vehicles where dust, vibration, and weather conditions are constantly changing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: How does the roll-top closure compare to a zippered gun case in actual waterproof performance?

A1: A zippered case relies on a single long zipper track to keep water out. Even with "waterproof" zippers, the slider mechanism creates a gap where moisture can enter over time — especially after dirt or sand accumulates in the teeth. The roll-top design works differently: instead of relying on a mechanical slider, you fold the open end down and secure it with a buckle. This creates a compression seal where the fabric layers press tightly against each other, eliminating the continuous seam that zippers require. In practical terms, a properly rolled SL-E302 will keep water out during heavy rain, boat spray, and brief accidental immersion (drops in shallow water) far more reliably than a zippered case of similar price. However, for extended submersion, we recommend our IPX7-upgraded configurations for OEM orders.

Q2: If I roll the top incorrectly will water get in?

A2: Yes, the roll-top seal depends on proper technique. To achieve a water-resistant closure, the top edge should be rolled down at least 3–4 full turns, then folded flat against the case body before buckling. The fabric needs to be smooth — no wrinkles or bunching — because wrinkles create channels where water can travel. We include a visual instruction label on each case showing the correct rolling method. For first-time users, we recommend testing the seal with a dry paper towel inside, rolling it closed, and briefly immersing the rolled section in water to confirm the technique. Once you've done it two or three times, the process takes about 15 seconds — comparable to rolling a dry bag for kayaking.

Q3: The SL-E302 has no zipper at all — how do I access my firearm quickly when I need it?

A3: This is a valid trade-off. The roll-top closure is more water-resistant than a zipper, but it is slower to open and close. For hunters who need immediate access (e.g., walking through thick brush with a firearm ready), the SL-E302 is better suited for transport between locations rather than as a "ready-carry" case. We recommend using the case to protect your firearm during travel to and from the hunting area, then unrolling it when you reach your blind or stand. For customers who prioritize quick access over maximum waterproofing, we offer the SL-E603 model with a high-performance waterproof zipper — a different solution for different priorities.

Q4: What is the temperature range for the TPU fabric — will it crack in extreme cold?

A4: The TPU-laminated fabric on the SL-E302 remains flexible down to approximately -25°C to -30°C, making it suitable for winter hunting in most North American and European regions. Below -30°C, the material begins to stiffen, which can make rolling the closure more difficult and slightly reduce the effectiveness of the seal. In our cold chamber testing, the fabric showed no cracking after 72 hours at -25°C. For customers operating in extreme Arctic or sub-Arctic conditions, we offer a cold-weather fabric upgrade with enhanced low-temperature flexibility. Please specify this requirement at the time of ordering.

Q5: Can the SL-E302 protect my firearm if the case is dropped or falls off an ATV?

A5: The SL-E302 provides impact protection through its foam padding — available in 10mm, 15mm, 20mm, or 25mm thickness depending on your order. For drops from typical transport height (e.g., falling off an ATV seat or out of a pickup bed), the 15mm or thicker padding will absorb significant impact energy. However, it is important to understand that this is a soft case, not a hard case. It will protect against moderate bumps and drops on soft or uneven ground, but it is not designed to withstand heavy crushing forces or drops from height onto rocks. For extreme impact protection, we offer hard-case alternatives for OEM customers.

Q6: How do I clean the case after a muddy hunt? Can I hose it down?

A6: Yes — this is one of the key advantages of the TPU-laminated exterior. Mud, blood, and dirt do not penetrate the surface. After a hunt, simply rinse the case with water (avoid high-pressure washers, which can force water past the closure seal) and wipe it clean with a cloth. For dried-on mud, let it soak for a few minutes, then wipe. The exterior does not absorb moisture, so it dries quickly and won't develop the musty smell that fabric gun bags often acquire. For the interior lining, spot-clean with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed — avoid fully submerging the case for cleaning, as this can degrade the fabric lamination over time.

Q7: How durable is the roll-top buckle and webbing under heavy use?

A7: The buckle is made from POM (polyoxymethylene), an engineering plastic with high tensile strength and excellent resistance to fatigue, UV exposure, and temperature cycling. The webbing is heavy-duty nylon, rated for loads well beyond the weight of any standard hunting rifle or shotgun. In our laboratory testing, the buckle and webbing system withstood over 3,000 open/close cycles without any loss of function or visible wear. For professional guides or shooting ranges that open and close the case multiple times daily, we still recommend periodic inspection — check the buckle for cracks and the webbing for fraying — but under normal hunting use (2–3 outings per week), the hardware will outlast the fabric.

Q8: Can I use this Waterproof Gun Case for air travel — will it meet airline requirements for firearm transport?

A8: The SL-E302 is a soft case, and airline policies vary significantly. Most major airlines require that firearms be transported in a hard-sided, lockable case for checked baggage. The SL-E302, being soft and without a built-in locking mechanism, is generally not suitable for commercial airline travel. However, some customers use it as a protective sleeve inside a larger hard case, or for ground transportation to and from the airport. For airline-compliant transport, we recommend consulting your carrier's specific regulations. For OEM customers, we offer a lockable zipper configuration on our SL-E603 model, which provides greater security for air travel applications.
